Ingredients
-
1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
-
2 tbsp butter or olive oil
-
1 small onion, finely chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 ½ cups mushrooms, finely chopped (button or cremini)
-
¼ tsp salt
-
¼ tsp black pepper
-
½ tsp thyme or oregano
-
2 tbsp cream cheese or heavy cream (optional, for creaminess)
-
1 egg (for egg wash)
-
1 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Prepare the filling: In a pan, melt butter or heat oil over medium heat. Sauté onion until soft and golden.
-
Add garlic and mushrooms, cooking until moisture evaporates and the mixture turns slightly dry.
-
Season with salt, pepper, and thyme. Stir in cream cheese if desired for a creamy texture. Let the mixture cool.
-
Prepare the puff pastry: Roll out the pastry sheet slightly and cut into small squares (about 3×3 inches).
-
Spoon a small amount of the mushroom filling onto the center of each square.
-
Fold the pastry over to form triangles or rectangles, sealing the edges with a fork.
-
Brush the tops with beaten egg for a shiny golden finish.
-
Bake for 18–20 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
-
Serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley.
