Italian Donuts (Ciambelle) Recipe

Ingredients:
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (or 1 packet)

1/4 cup warm water (about 110°F/45°C)

1/2 cup milk (preferably warm)

1/4 cup sugar (for the dough)

3 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Zest of 1 lemon (optional, for extra flavor)

Vegetable oil (for frying)

Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
