Ingredients:
– 500 g gyros meat (pork or chicken)
– 400 g potatoes
– 1 large onion (cut into rings)
– 2 cloves of garlic (chopped)
– 200 g grated cheese (e.g., feta or gouda)
– 250 ml cream
– 100 ml milk
– 200 ml ready-made Hollandaise sauce
– 1 tsp dried oregano
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 2 tbsp oil
– Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
Preparation 🥣
1 – Prepare the potatoes: Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin slices. Pre-cook them in lightly salted water for about 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
2 – Sear the gyros meat: Heat the oil in a large pan. Sauté the onion rings and chopped garlic until translucent. Add the gyros meat and fry well until nicely browned. Season with oregano, salt, and pepper.
3 – Make the cream mixture: In a bowl, mix together the cream, milk, and the ready-made Hollandaise sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
4 – Layer the casserole: Grease a baking dish. Place a layer of potato slices on the bottom, followed by a layer of gyros meat. Continue layering until all ingredients are used. Pour the cream mixture evenly over the casserole.
5 – Top with cheese: Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly over the casserole. Place the dish in a preheated oven at 180 °C (top/bottom heat) and bake for about 30–35 minutes, until the cheese is golden brown and crispy.
6 – Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve hot.
